[ The punches just kept coming with this kid, though something, sort of in a detached way, comes to Bull's mind as he looks at the picture. He hasn't seen many human children. ]
[ There aren't many children in his world anymore, either. It's not a place for kids, forced to grow up too fast, that innocence stolen by forcing to kill or witnessing it. ]
She is.. [ He's quiet for a few moments before he glances back up at Bull. ]
I got to name her after she was born.. It was just me and dad, and we were having a hard time. I took care of her a lot, especially when we left the prison. Even though she was really heavy and I was tired, I had to have her with me, you know? Just had to make sure she was safe..
[ His heart went out to the kid, but it actually seemed like talking about something happy, even if it was sad in itself, was helping him, so he continued. ]
So...why Judith, then? Was she a...a knight? A saint? Something like that?
Nothing like that, no. It was the name of my first grade teacher. I just remember really liking it, and it didn't feel right naming her after anyone we'd lost..
She was my best friend after everything went down. She was Carol's daughter. She got lost. When we found her again, she'd been bitten. She'd already been turned.
[ He nods, pinning the picture of himself and Judith back in place before shimmying down the bed and under the covers. The bandages stay on, but that's mostly because there's company. ]
[ Bull totally understands not taking off those bandages. He still doesn't take off the eyepatch around most people, and that's been years.
He needed to get this kid a badass eyepatch. That was an idea, next time they were near a place to do it. He settles down next to the bed, leaning back against the frame. All in all, it wasn't that uncomfortable. Besides, he's slept in worse places. ]
[ He leans his head back against the edge of the bed, and Carl might notice, even though he's nearly 4 feet away, his horns are still within reach. Bull has big horns. ]
[In the quiet and the dark, head resting against something soft, sleep finally started to creep up on the exhausted Qunari, so much so that he started slightly at Carl's voice and it took him a moment to register what had been asked.]
[ It really shouldn't comfort him the way it does, but Carl nods against his pillow and pulls the blankets up and around him a bit more. After a few minutes of shifting, he finds what seems to be the right spot and falls asleep fairly quickly.
Nothing quite like a deep sleep, but Bull knows the feeling well. ]

She's cute. I'm sorry, kid.

I thought that was a human thing, naming people after people who died.

[ Carol had never mentioned she'd had a daughter, and he could see where Carl was coming from, now. ]
Yeah, Judith's a good name.
action;;
We thought so.
action;;
Alright, kid. Time to get some sleep.
action;;
I'll try?

Don't worry, kid. I'm not going anywhere.
action;;
You don't have to stay.
action;;
Wouldn't be much of a sleepover, otherwise.
action;;
Can't be comfortable.
action;;
I've slept in worse places, kid. Get some sleep.
action;;
Are your horns heavy?
action;;
Uh...I don't know. Probably to a human, yeah.
action;;
[ Is it obvious he might be reluctant to actually go to sleep? ]
action;;
Carl. Go to sleep, kid. I'm not goin' anywhere.
[By way of comfort.]
